Pentru a veni în sprijinul solicitanţilor, Autoritatea Naţională pentru Cetăţenie extinde programul de lucru cu publicul pentru depunerea şi înregistrarea dosarelor la sediul din Bucureşti, urmând ca primirea cererilor privind cetăţenia română să se efectueze şi în fiecare zi de marţi. Astfel, programul de lucru cu publicul se va desfăşura în zilele de luni, marţi, miercuri şi joi în intervalul orar 08.30 - 16.30. Numărul de locuri disponibile în vederea programării online pentru depunerea dosarelor va fi de 350 / zi.  

    Pornind de la obiectivele de eficientizare şi transparentizare a activității Autorității Naționale pentru Cetățenie (ANC), angajamente asumate de către Guvernul României prin aderarea la Parteneriatul pentru o Guvernare Deschisă şi pentru o mai bună gestionare a activității de primire și înregistrare a cererilor, începând cu data de 22.05.2017 la sediul ANC din București înregistrarea cererilor privind cetățenia română, formulate în temeiul art. 11 din Legea nr. 21/1991, se va efectua exclusiv în baza programării prealabile online a petenților pe site-ul instituției (Programare online). Pentru utilizarea aplicaţiei de programare online nu se percep taxe, fiind un serviciu gratuit.

      Persoanele care se vor prezenta la sediul ANC începând cu data de 22.05.2017 în vederea depunerii cererilor privind cetățenia română, formulate în temeiul art. 11 din Lege, fără a se programa în prealabil pentru înregistrarea dosarului, nu vor putea depune cererea privind cetățenia română. Obligativitatea programării prealabile online în vederea depunerii cererilor nu se aplică persoanelor care formulează cereri privind cetățenia română în temeiul articolelor 8, 81, 10 și 27 din Legea nr. 21/1991.

Question: Where do the applications for regaining Romanian citizenship may be submitted to?

Answer: Applications may be submitted to the headquarters of the National Citizenship Authority in Bucharest, to the Territorial Offices in Iasi, Galati, Suceava and Timisoara, as well as to the Romania’s diplomatic mission in your country of domicile or in the country where you have a legal residence permit.

Question: How can you find out information about the settlement of the file submitted to the NCA?

Answer: Information about the file status can be received following a petition submitted to the NCA, indicating the file number and other identification information required by the law on petitions.

Question: How is the order for granting or regaining Romanian citizenship notified?

Answer: The order for granting or regaining Romanian citizenship shall be notified to the applicant by means of registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, immediately after the issuance of the order by the Chairperson of the National Citizenship Authority.

Answer: Within 3 months from the date of the notice of the National Citizenship Authority Chairperson’s order regarding the granting or regaining the Romanian citizenship, the persons who have acquired or regained Romanian citizenship shall take an oath of loyalty to Romania at the headquarters of the National Citizenship Authority – those who have applied for the residence in Romania, and at the Romania’s diplomatic mission in the country of domicile or residence – those applying for maintaining their residence abroad.

Answer: The certificate of Romanian citizenship is issued to the person concerned during the oath taking ceremony.

Question: What are the next steps after obtaining the certificate of citizenship?

Answer: After obtaining the certificate of citizenship, persons concerned will go to the Registry Office in the locality where they reside in Romania, with a view to transcript the marital status documents (birth / marriage certificate) in Romanian.

Question: What is the Romanian citizenship withdrawal procedure?

Answer: Romanian citizenship can be withdrawn from a person who:
- while abroad, commits particularly grievous acts that are harmful to the interests of the Romanian State or to the prestige of Romania, or joins the armed forces of a State with which Romania has ceased diplomatic relations or with which Romania is at war;
- has obtained Romanian citizenship by fraudulent means;
- is known to have connections with terrorist groups or to have supported them, in any form, or has committed other acts that are a threat to national security.
Loss of Romanian citizenship by withdrawal takes place upon the date of the National Citizenship Authority Chairperson’s order approving the withdrawal of Romanian citizenship. Romanian citizenship cannot be withdrawn from a person who has acquired it by birth.
